GlideRead Privacy Policy

A few useful details, so you can get back to reading.

Effective October 23, 2026 · Applies to GlideRead 0.2.1

GlideRead provides continuous immersive reading on sites you authorize. Reading mode is off by default. This version has no developer data collection server, account synchronization, advertising SDK or telemetry service. Chapter text, reading history and rules are not uploaded to the developer.

Data stored on this device

The extension stores book titles, chapter titles, full chapter addresses, reading positions and update times, layout and custom colors, interface language preference, site detection rules, text replacement rules, and whether you allow temporary tabs for a site in browser local storage. The browser manages site permissions separately.

Chapter text is extracted and processed in memory during the reading session. The extension does not save it as an offline library. Regular expression replacements run locally in a Worker. The browser and original site manage browser caches and site storage.

Requests to the original site

After you open the reader, the extension requests subsequent chapters from the same origin as you approach the bottom. Requests may include existing session credentials such as the site’s cookies. The original site receives chapter addresses, network addresses and normal request information. This version does not read cookies through the Cookie API, but the browser may attach credentials automatically.

Only with your additional permission may the extension create temporary tabs to read dynamically rendered text, closing them when complete or cancelled. These pages run the original site’s scripts normally. The site’s advertisements, analytics, verification and privacy policy still apply. The developer cannot guarantee that the original site does not track visits.

The website browsing activity and website content categories declared during Firefox installation cover the necessary original-site communication described above, including chapter addresses, web requests and session information. They do not mean your library is uploaded to the developer.

Permissions and private windows

storage saves settings and progress locally; scripting injects the reader into permitted sites; activeTab identifies the current page when you click the extension. Chrome/Edge uses offscreen to host a terminable regular expression Worker; Firefox uses a background page.

HTTP/HTTPS addresses are declared only as optional permissions. First use requests access to the current site; other sites need separate permission. This version does not support private/incognito windows.

Deletion and control

Delete individual records or clear history in “Recent reading” in the popup. Under “Site permissions and detection rules”, revoke access, delete detection rules or disable temporary-tab loading. Edit or delete replacement rules and custom colors in reading settings. To remove all extension data, uninstall GlideRead through browser extension management. Uninstalling does not delete the original site’s own data.

Contact and changes

Send feedback through the developer support channel listed on the official store page where you installed GlideRead. Policy changes are published with new versions. Before store publication, the publisher provides a publicly accessible policy URL and support contact details.
